John Trickey is a photographer exploring the unseen layers of landscape - particularly memory, myth and legend. The work looks at historical events, places and sites from which new narratives may emerge, often disrupting the very notion of our sense of identity.

Many of the projects originate through walking. The exploration of this immediate landscape either reinforces the personal memory with a cultural history, or puts the two at odds with each other - disturbing and displacing.

Nothing is static within these places that we pass through - this abstract edge is created where one place ends and another has started.
